Welcome to the official website of Government Polytechnic, Ranchi which is a premier polytechnic institute of Jharkhand. We offer AICTE approved 3-years diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Communication and Computer Science & Engineering streams. The institute is affiliated to Jharkhand University of Technology, Ranchi. We believe that technical education is an effective medium to bring social transformation and development to our nation. About Institute

Government Polytechnic Ranchi was started in year 1935 long before any engineering college in bihar Jharkhand . Initially it was run under the name of ranchi school of engineering , it was very famous and none of that kind during that time. Student of that era under ranchi school of engineering were given special training on engineering basis and making them skillfull through labs and workshops. As per for information it was an I.T.I institute with all running equipments and many of the students of that era were retired with very good position in their respective field as per a report filed in year 1971.

Library

Books are wealth & library is pride of our college. Our colllege library serves as an invaluable resource hub and intellectual heaven for students. it provides a diverse collection of books,journals and digital resources that cater to student's acedemic needs beyond its extensive collection, the college library offer a Conducive environment for research, study and intellectual exploration. The college Library stands as a vibrant Centre of learning supporting students in their Quest for knowledge.

Hostel

The College Hostel, located within the college campus, consists of two blocks, one each for boys and girls. It is a residence hostel for students admitted to Govt. Polytechnic Ranchi.

Computer lab

MODERN COMPUTER LABS The computer centre of this institute boasts of being called upon “The gateway across the globe”. With over 200 computers, ready to take the students across the geographical boundaries of the land at a speed of 10Mbps dedicated internet leased line.

Wi-fi campus

The entire campus is Wi-fi enabled with high speed internet connection to allow the students to access the internet no-matter wherever they are. The coverage is not just limited to the classrooms, instead it extends to all the facilities within the campus premises.

Reading Room

A spacious and well furnished Reading Room is situated at College. It also contain a computer Centre with internet facility. It provides a Conducive atmosphere for the students to read their materials & books and also engage in the task of writing their assignments & projects.

Solar panels, also known as photovoltaic (PV) panels, are innovative devices designed to harness the power of sunlight and convert it into usable electricity. These panels are a cornerstone of renewable energy systems, offering a clean and sustainable source of power that reduces reliance on fossil fuels and helps mitigate the impacts of climate change.

RAGGING FREE CAMPUS

Ragging has ruined countless innocent lives and careers. In order to eradicate it, Hon’ble Supreme Court in Civil Appeal No. 887 of 2009, passed the judgement wherein guidelines were issued for setting up of a Central Crisis Hotline and Anti-Ragging database.

Ragging in all its forms is totally banned in this college including in departments, constituent units, all premises (academic, residential, sports, cafeteria, etc.).

Anyone found guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging, whether actively or passively, or being a part of a conspiracy to promote ragging, is liable to be punished in accordance with these Regulations as well as under the provisions of any penal law for the time being in force.
